Momentum, the curving, mirror-finish sculpture we built in Emeryville with LMNL Studio and Marcus Guillard, has been named one of CODAworx’s Top 100 Public Art Projects worldwide. This luminous landmark—part sculpture, part light show—reflects hope, resilience, and the fight against cancer. Designed to welcome and inspire, it now shines with global recognition. Designed by artist Marcus Guillard, Momentum is an elegant welcome sculpture with curving lines symbolizing aspiration and hope. The sculpture is based on a placemaking narrative developed by LMNL Studio for Agenus, a company developing novel immunological agents to treat cancer. Momentum is made of stainless steel with a mirror finish, reflecting viewers to highlight the universal impact of cancer. This craftsmanship makes the sculpture a poignant reminder of the shared struggle against the disease.


LMNL Studio added custom content to inspire and uplift. The sculpture’s upward motion encourages viewers to look up, symbolizing hope. An LED pixel screen brings it to life, enhancing its visual and symbolic impact.
