Windmill

Public Art

Fourteen years after we built the original Outside Lands iconic windmills, One Hat One Hand partnered with Iron and Bloom to design and build a new future-forward version. This 80-foot-high state-of-the-art windmill was unveiled at the 2022 Outside Lands Music Festival in Golden Gate Park.

Festival attendees at the 2022 Outside Lands could view the windmill up close to see the inner workings of the mechanisms and see through the windmill. Designed for ‘Magical Realism’ this piece functioned as a beacon for the festival, critical wayfinding and a fun selfie photo spot.

A San Francisco icon reimagined with a space age future-forward spin!

Feedback

"We've had the pleasure of working repeatedly with OHOH (often on festivals), and watching them grow significantly, in size, scale, ambition, and family. We've worked with a handful of their project and production managers, estimators, designers, artisans, illustrators, machinists, and more; each one is as gracious, inventive, dedicated and proud as the last. And even with all that growth, Marcus and Chrisray have always held personal time for us. Whether it's a job in California or New York, whether it's a 35' sculpture or a boutique lightbox, we are thrilled and eager to give OHOH a call." WILLIAM IRONS
